Awkwafina
Awkwafina began as an American rapper and singer, making sly songs that addressed issues such as racial and sexuality with a humorous twist. In the years before she stepped into Hollywood the singer was able to make a few songs. Born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrant parents in Forest Hills Queens her first encounter with the world of music was in the form of the trumpet. Jazz, classical and hip-hop education began when she was just a teenager. In school, she concentrated on journalism and woman's studies. She also studied Mandarin for a while in Beijing. After graduating, it wasn't until that she shifted her focus towards music. After becoming famous on the Internet the track My Vag was a reaction to Mickey Avalon's My Dick. It eventually made its way onto her debut album Yellow Ranger. This album also featured songs that were viral such as body positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown New York Bitche$. The second track linked into Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide published in 2015, which was another idea. Following a career that was successful as a singer and songwriter, she took on the role of an actor. Along with early series like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films like Neighbors to Storks. In 2018, she landed many breakthrough roles, such as Dude Ocean's 8 or Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
